Prison Of Elders – Skolas’s Revenge

Destiny’s House of Wolves DLC substitute for a raid activity, The Prison of Elders, final level is a five round arena against level 35 enemies culminating in a standoff with Skolas. He is the Fallen Kell Guardians have been chasing throughout the expansion pack and in the last story mission for the Queen, Skolas is captured and imprisoned here in The Prison Of Elders.

Round 1: Defeat All Enemy Waves

Arena – Hive
Active Modifier: Exposure – Guardians shields are increased but do not replenish.
Active Modifier: Brawler – Guardian melee damage is greatly increased.

This is a simple kill all the Hive round. Because your health regens slowly with these modifiers on, weapons like the Suros Regime and Red Death help counteract. Titans should be Defenders and have Blessing of Light set on their bubble. Guardians should also use helmets that regen health when you pick up an Orb of Light.

Round 2: Defeat All Enemy Waves

Arena – Vex
Active Modifier: Grounded – Players take more damage while airborne.
Active Modifier: Airborne – Players deal more damage while in the air.

After the first wave of enemies there are two waves where you must destroy mines. Even though the Minotaurs on this level have Void shields, when there are waves with mine objectives, Warlocks should be Sunsingers with self-revive to usurp the 30 timer.

Round 3: Defeat All Enemy Waves

Arena – Cabal
Active Modifier: Catapult – Grenade recharge rate is greatly increased.
Active Modifier: Arc Burn – Arc Damage from any source is greatly increased.

With Arc Burn on all Hunters should be Bladedancer subclass and optionally Titans can switch to Striker, but remember your Super, Grenades and Melee recharge all reset when you switch subclasses. The most dangerous enemies in this round are the Psions, whose special ability will go straight through a Titans bubble and one-shot you at a decent range.

Round 4: Defeat All Enemy Waves

Arena – Fallen
Active Modifier: Specialist – Special Weapon damage is favored.
Active Modifier: Juggler – No ammo drops for your equipped weapon.

Because Special Weapon damage is already increased and the Juggler modifier usually results in a lot of Heavy Ammo drops, the Heavy Weapon slot should be used for your Exotic. The Captains in this round are the most dangerous enemy as they are incredibly fast both in their movements and the number of rounds they can fire down range. Arc Shotguns or Arc Fusion Rifles are very helpful when the Captains come up and try to melee you. I’ve never had success camping on the left side, it seems to be much easier to go to the right where there is extra cover and Captains stay further away from you.

Round 5: Defeat All Enemy Waves

Arena – Fallen
Active Modifier: Trickle – Recharge of abilities is significantly reduced.
Active Modifier: Small Arms – Primary Weapon damage is favored.

This is a short round where you will only face one wave and a boss. Immediately when you enter the arena you will face the boss, a Pilot Servitor. Rather than camping on one side my fireteam found it to be a better strategy to rotate and force enemies to chase you. Then engage them on your terms. There is nothing special about the Pilot Servitor, just pour rounds into it until its dead.

Round 6: Trial of the Wolf Kell

Arena – Fallen
Active Modifier: Solar Burn – Solar Damage from any source is greatly increased.

This week’s burn is Solar so get out your Gallys and Blackhammers. When you first enter the arena Skolas will be bound to Servitors and drawing power from them. Kill all that you see to “weaken servitor bonds” which will give you a slight buff against Skolas’s abilities for 30 seconds. The best way to kill Skolas is to do it so quickly he doesn’t have a chance to use his special abilities like Usurping Power from Servitors, which will regenerate his health. Skolas will use his devouring essence which causes damage and restricts a Guardians movements, but you can still attack him during this. Immediately fire all your rockets and use a Heavy Ammo Synth and fire all those at Skolas. If you have a Titan with a bubble you can use Weapons of Light to increase damage. If you whole fireteam does this you can kill Skolas, Kell of Kells in 40 seconds.
